4 Gruelling days with the incompetent corrupts ...

Day one : March 01 2005 : Off to the station to get the verification procedure started to get permission for the project @ a govt establishment. Unfortunately the man at Shimoga Rural Police Station is out counting the rural election votes .... disappointment to say the least..... A whole day wasted..

Day two : March 02 2005 : 10.30 in the morning . four lads turn up again to see this man called Kuppaiah. He turns up for regular duty at 12.00 ... the lads tell him their problem . Give him the request letter and he responds rudely " dont show me your face for the next 5 days !" the lads think the first letter in police stood for P=Polite. now if that was polite , I would eat my footie boots without salt. The lads request and he grants them permission to get NOCs from the other 3 stations. Then they go to the next destination Doddapet police station and the jobis done in 5 minutes , hats off to those people there. Next stop jayanagar station ... Unfortunately the man for the job is out for lunch. Same story @ Kote station. The lads turn up again @ 16.00 hrs @ jayanagar. Job done in 5 minutes but with a small catch. They are asked to pay a sum of 50/- as stationery expenses... whew! stationery is supplied by the government isnt it ? Next stop Kote station .... job done in 5 minutes again... awesome job by the people there.

Now back to base to meet Kuppaiah . Formalities done , the lads have done Kuppaiah's job of running around in the sun getting NOCs from all the stations that too making photocopies of the form at their own expenses as ordered by Kuppaiah. They meet him again , same curt reply:" dont show me your face for the next 5 days !" somehow they beg him to meet them the next morning.

Day three : March 03 2005: They meet Kuppaiah. He refuses to do their job, appears to be busy while he is actually talking to his colleagues about the latest kannada movie that has been released. One helluva busy man....

But then when he is pressurised from a few political sources he does his job grumbling. After all this he approaches the lads for Office expenses (read bribes) and gets politely denied (coz the boys have had their job done) ....

will this ever improve?

Well the next 2 days are easy and the task is handled by responsible officials and the lads get their certs after 4 days of agony, pain, torture and frustration...!!!!
